about me
My name’s Ish and I’ve been making music since 2017. This website is an informal diary and portfolio of what I do.
Besides music, I am a doctor with interests in Neurology, Rheumatology, Medical Education, and a tutor in A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. I also famously own an air fryer.
I also previously owned an emo meme page with 11,000 followers between 2015-2019. During this time, I used to make meme song mashups using Audacity until I came across a tutorial on remaking ‘Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff’ by deadmau5 in FL Studio. Since then, I started making music and haven’t stopped since :))
Each song and album has its history and story explained in the music section.
nothing special / a beautiful, yet hurtful life
A recurring theme in my music is ‘nothing special’, highlighting the transience of life and how one day, I’ll be remembered for the last time. The goal of my music, without trying to sound too pretentious, is to leave behind something that’d challenge this.
I like to think of each album I make as an ‘era’, reflecting how I’ve developed and changed. Each album tells the story of key events in my life. While this concept is used widely and I’m not the first person to do this, I hope that my music can at least convey this theme.
other music projects
Parable Collective
In 2019, I founded Parable Collective with some of my best friends, which is a music label and community connecting people from all over the globe. Words cannot express how proud I am to say that I was involved in bringing a home to insanely talented and passionate artists.
CODENAME:NIOCELL
I also have a duo with a close friend (who goes by _chris elrik or KILLMATTER) called CODENAME:NIOCELL. We make more experimental, aggressive, and unusual music on there and started releasing in November 2020.
Crosswise Collaborations
I also collaborate and make music with a close friend of mine called Ella, who goes by the artist name ‘Crosswise’. She and I make a lot of bass house and aggressive music together.
ghost kid club
In August, I started another alias known as ‘ghost kid club’, which encompasses my more indie pop music, and brings a whole new world of music to you guys :))
the starkeepers
the starkeepers are the archives in which all my work and work from people close to me are stored.
educational projects
The Medical Cookbook
The Medical Cookbook is a website I created to share notes for medical school studies, free of charge. In 2016, a by the Social Mobility Commission revealed that only 4% of doctors were from working-class backgrounds. Coupled with barriers such as high entry requirements, expensive tuition fees, extensive study commitments, costly registration and Royal College fees, and the necessity for additional paid study aids, achieving wider participation in the medical field remains significantly challenging. The Medical Cookbook aims to be another resource to help widen participation and tackle these barriers in medicine.
One day, while sharing my notes with friends, one of them jokingly dubbed it ‘The Medical Cookbook’ thus giving birth to its existence.
The A-Level Cookbook
The A-Level Cookbook is a YouTube channel I created, with similar goals to The Medical Cookbook. A-Level exam revision materials can be expensive, and there are plenty of expensive, unfairly-priced ‘quick fixes’ aimed at impressionable young people. This channel aims to provide free material to also help narrow the gap in education and widening its accessibility. It currently has past paper tutorials of A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths, and new videos are being added iteratively.
